Our “warm standby” service is now in beta. This is an optional service that keeps an up-to-date copy of your website on a live standby server, ready take over should there be any issues with your site.
The standby server is situated outside of the Linode data centre in London that we use for our main server hosting, so would be unaffected by any unplanned server outages or network issues at the data centre.1
From today, the standby server will take over during any periods of planned downtime — which we’ll always tweet about in advance — including the occasional server reboots following patching.
